Chartbusters

Eat Complete  |  Activity Center

Chartbusters is an annual program, created by Chartwells, that focuses on school meals and student wellness. This year we encourage you to eat complete meals in your school dining center. During the school hours, it is crucial that you take care of your eating habits so that you can provide your body with energy for daily learning. Complete and balanced meals are the best way to eat well and stay healthy.

What does this mean exactly?
Complete meals are typically a main meal item, two sides and a healthy drink option such as low-fat milk. They are traditionally more healthy and nutritious, giving you all the vitamins, minerals and caloric intake to give you energy throughout the day. At Chartwells, we strive to provide a variety of wholesome, nutrient packed menu options to best suit the needs of our customers: you and your friends.  Complete meals allow for peak academic and athletic performance throughout the day.

When picking meal options you want to consider a protein, whole-grain, vegetable, and a dairy item at the core. Protein can come from an animal, fish, nut or dairy source, whole-grains can come from wheat, oats or rice, vegetables can be carrots, tomatoes, leafy greens, etc, and dairy could be low-fat cheese, low-fat milk and yogurt. There are many more items, but this is just to name a few.
